Kolleen Carney Hoepfner has introduced a podcast diving into her favorite obscure movies and collaborating with guest hosts on her same wavelength about just how to dissect these things. This week, I am the lucky one who gets to discuss THE HUGGA BUNCH.
We examine it not only as an unconventional example of gothic horror involving liminal spaces, but where the work sits as an artifact of both care & craft in children’s programming early-to-mid-1980s, and post-1985 when crass commercialization turned everything into toy ads (this TV special managed to be both!).
